IoT Cybersecurity Act Headed to Senate Floor

Security was top of mind for the Senate Homeland Committee Wednesday, with it giving the go-ahead to legislation that will improve the cybersecurity of internet-connected devices.

The Internet of Things (IoT) Cybersecurity Improvement Act of 2019 would require that devices purchased by the US government meet certain minimum security requirements. The bill as passed today would require the National Institute of Standards and Technology to issue recommendations on secure deployment, identity management, patching and configuration management of IoT devices.
