After a sneak peek for visitors at BETT 2026, we are happy to announce the new Arduino® Matter Discovery Bundle is out, and available from the Arduino Store today!

This is another step we are taking to make Matter – and all the smart home and domotics applications it enables – accessible to the widest community possible.

What is Matter?

The Matter protocol is an open-source, Internet Protocol (IP)-based connectivity standard that enables smart home and Internet of Things (IoT) devices from different manufacturers to communicate and work together seamlessly. 

Developed by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), and backed by many major tech companies, it strives to unify the fragmented smart home ecosystem by providing a single, universal “language” for devices, thereby simplifying the experience for both developers and end users.

Our history with the protocol

We’ve long believed that Matter can be the key to unlock innovation in the IoT and home automation realm. From the extremely user-friendly Arduino library tailored for the Matter protocol we released with Silicon Labs to the recent launch of Arduino Nesso N1, we’ve invested in tools that you can use to leverage this opportunity – whether it’s to make your daily life better, develop a new product, or innovate your business. 

The biggest step we took, of course, was developing Nano Matter: a small, cost-effective board that you can use to unify smart devices anywhere. The new bundle is built around it, but includes a lot more!
